Regular Weekly Sessions

Wednesday morning intervals at Regents Park

Wednesday from 6:00 am – 7:30 am, meeting on the cobbles on the opposite side of the road of the SE corner of the Regents Park Outer Circle. Club members meet for interval training before work, taking advantage of the closed road of the outer circle at Regents Park. Sessions are intended to be suitable for a range of abilities, and incorporate group riding and chain ganging skills. Details are posted on the e-group in the days preceding the session, and session suggestions are always welcome. The sessions are conducted riding anticlockwise – if you arrive after 6:00 am, ride clockwise to find the group!

Details of Wednesday’s session and riding techniques are covered in detail here.

Highgate Hills

Often on a Thursday morning, some go to Highgate West Hill to do hill reps.  These aren’t as regular as the Wednesday Regent’s Park sessions, and are usually organised ad-hoc via the e-group. Most people just ride at their own pace, passing the others each way as you go up and down, and typically doing 8-10 reps in a session.  It’s 1km from the bottom to the top, and at a solid pace you would do about 10 reps in an hour. There is also the option to go up Swains Lane, and come back down Highgate West Hill – there’s much less traffic and gets a bit steeper in parts!

Seasonal Sessions

Winter Ride Schedule

Each winter we have a series of monthly winter rides. The aim is to get a decent bunch out for a fun group ride, typically of around 50-60 miles. The rides are designed for all abilities and will be ridden at the pace of the slowest rider. There will be different options available to cover a variety of distances too. Some of this may involve taking a train or coming back by train but the rides will be plotted to accommodate this. These are a great opportunity for you all to meet other club members and they will all involve a coffee stop too.

Ride leaders will make a decision based on the weather forecast the night before that it will be suitable weather for a ride the following morning so do keep an eye on the e-group on the Saturday evening. If the weather is sub-zero it is likely that the ride will be cancelled and definitely will be if the roads are wet. Check the e-group also for the meeting point for each ride as location is likely to change depending on the direction of the ride. The updated schedule for 2017/2018 is:

  • Sunday 5th November
  • Sunday 10th December
  • Sunday 7th January
  • Sunday 4th February

Ad Hoc Rides

Each weekend there are always several groups of riders heading out to train in the surrounding counties. The distances, routes, start times, and meeting points vary on a weekly basis, often with two or more groups of different levels or distances riding out from different places at different times. Such rides are discussed on the e-group during the preceding week.
